Motorola Xoom 2 tablet specs and review

Features, specs and full video review of the Android tablet Motorola Xoom 2 MZ616

Motorola Xoom 2

Motorola Xoom 2 review - the second generation of this 10.1-inch Google Android tablet offers better hardware and few software improvements as well. It is offered with the choice of either 16GB or 32GB version with 3G or WiFi only.

Motorola Xoom 2 is a solid and very well build lightweight 10-inch tablet with plenty of good features and specs above the average.
Motorola Xoom 2 tablet is a very capable dual-core tablet but it is a bid outdated especially if you take a look at the upcoming quad-core tablets with 2GB of RAM and extreme graphics options. Another feature that lets the Xoom 2 tablet down is the operating system it uses - the Android 3.2 Honeycomb. And please don't get me wrong, there is nothing bad with this Android OS but it better suits smartphones rather than high quality tablets.

Motorola Xoom 2 gets its hardware power from the 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 dual-core processor. The system memory is 1GB (RAM) and the space for storage is either 32GB or 16GB for the cheaper model. Of course you can extend the memory capacity by additional microSD card (up to 32GB).

Motorola Xoom 2 has a very nice 10.1-inch HD-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display which offers great colors and good viewing angles. Unfortunately like many other tablets it is highly glossy display so you may have some troubles with reflection on direct sunlight. Other than that it is a great display with high resolution of 1280x800 pixels. As for responsiveness the display is not the greatest out there but is better than the average with good feedback. The display itself is covered with the popular Gorilla Glass to make it even tougher against scratches and other harmful actions.

Motorola Xoom 2 has all the connection options you may need on the go. These include a fast 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth, microUSB, GPS, GPRS, 3G (HSDPA, 21 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps) and HDMI port.

One great feature of the Motorola Xoom 2 tablet are the built-in stereo speakers which provide some of the best sounds coming from a tablet, really awesome sound.

Motorola Xoom 2 also has two cameras on board - one 5MP rear camera with LED flash and HD video recording capability and another front facing 1.3MP camera with mic.
The picture quality of the 5MP camera is good and the auto focus works great, as an overall one of the good cameras inserted in a tablet and a good improvement over the previous generation.
The battery is Li-Ion 7000 mAh and it will be good for over 5 hours of extensive use.

The price for the Motorola Xoom 2 is a small drawback for some potential buyers. This tablet is definitely not what you call cheap but considering the amazing build quality and the improved performance it is quite natural for the price to be a bit higher than expected.

You can find the 16GB version for around $500 (around £350 in UK) and the latest model with 32GB will set you back some $650.
